LAHORE – Member (Power) WAPDA Muhammad Anwar Khalid has said that negotiations are in progress for further import of 100 Megawatt power from Iran for Gwadar.

Talking with newsmen after a seminar in Lahore he hoped that on going talk between the two countries would yield positive result.

About procurement of 38 Megawatt power from Iran under a new three year contract, he said that border villages of Balochistan close to Iran, are being supplied this power through Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO). He said after final agreement, a 70-kilometer long transmission line will be erected from Polan. Responding to yet another question, he said "WAPDA is supplying 550 Megawatts daily to QESCO.”
